My darling girl,

Am still at the Base, going up the line tomorrow morning. On Wednesday afternoon a few of the officers I amongst them went to a sort of Summer Resort on the coast about 5 miles from here , it has a very long promenade & some pretty fine houses, the place however seemed very empty, something like Rhyl in winter. We had a visit on Wednesday from a German plane flying very high, Anti-aircraft guns opened up on it & chased it off. Yesterday afternoon we went to a Cinematograph show in the camp, it was very good too renewed my acquaintance with Charlie Chaplin. Am sharing a tent with the Adjutant here who strange to say, is named Price & was born in Wrexham , on enquiring his family history however I find he does not belong to your branch of the family & therefore will not be entitled to share in that great fortune of yours. I guess you are getting ready to make your move to Wales, I hope Eunice has managed to get you a cottage. We live very well in this camp, doesn't seem to me any food shortage here, as an example for Breakfast, stewed or preserved fruit, porridge, Bacon & eggs, (two eggs) toast, & the bread perfectly white, Wrote to Geo Cornish the other day will write to Jack when I get up the line. When you write tell me all about the kiddies. Fondest love to you & the bairns.

Yours lovingly,

Jim
