Dear Cousin:-

Just a few lines to let you know I am still alive I guess you will have got my field card telling you I am wounded but not bad, I got it in the leg up in the thigh, the left leg, a dirty piece of scrapnel, I cant walk and wont for a long time, I am going to try and stay the winter in England with it. I didnt last long in the Gun section, I knew I would get it for I got to be a no 1 in charge of a Lewis gun.

Billie was fine when I left but that was the third of September.

It is sports day today nearly all are so it is very quite.
