Eric was offered his Majority a year ago if he stayed on the Staff; and then when he left it he rose fast and was Flight Commander before anytime, and this past September was to be made a Major and be sent to Canada as a Squadron Commander. Oh! it nearly kills me. I would never say a word about it before, though I knew it in July, but was afraid something should happen, and then what did! Of course Eric dear was in a fighting squadron, by far the most dangerous and hard. - -
