11 Squadron R.F.C.
Aug. 31st 1917.

Dear Mrs. Robertson,

Thank you very much for your letter. I expect you will have heard from the War Office that your husband has been reported killed, they dropped a message over this side to say so. I am so sorry for you, the only comfort is that it is practically certain death must have been instantaneous. If you have time ever, do go and see my mother. My people live at 41 Hans Mansions (over Harrods) and I have told my mother I am writing to ask you to go and see her. She would be so pleased to see you and delighted to do anything for you.

They are at Bournemouth now but return to London on the 8th I think.

I must again express the most sincere sympathy of all the Squadron with you. We are also all very proud of your husband and he will never be forgotten by any who knew him.

Yours very sincerely,
William Ripley.
