Dear Ones All,

Father's good letter reached me a few days ago containing a large budget of home news, and Fred and Harry both forwarded to me letters from other members of the family.

Poor little Mother, I am so sorry and worried to hear of how worn out you have been. It seems such a shame that you have lost all the benefit of your holiday last summer. If it were not for the "good-fellowship" and the help that you are sure to get from Jessie this would be a hard winter for you without a doubt.

Farquhar is in hospital with mumps as you know, of course. Pretty tough luck, isn’t it? I was in town on Sunday and ran into both Arthur and Roy. Neither knew the other was in England and I happened to see Roy just two minutes after I had left Arthur. Both were looking particularly well. I was unable to stay with them unfortunately as a car was waiting to take me out to Brooklands.

Major Hamilton Gault had lunch with us to-day (One of our flight commanders was one of his subalterns in the original outfit of the Princess Pat’s) He has lost a leg, poor fellow, but that did not prevent him from going up for a passenger flight this afternoon.

My friend, Ralph Jarvis of Toronto who recently distinguished himself by winning the Military Cross, was made a flight commander the other day with the rank of captain. He has done great work in France.

It is getting near Xmas time and by the time this reaches you it will he time to think about buying the turkey. How I wish I could be home. That word "home" is mighty sweet at any time, but at Xmas- oh, how I do long to be there. It is more than likely that I’ll not be able to send any presents this year. The thought of choosing things that can be sent safely across, without duty &c. is rather appalling. However, if I can get leave and can get in to town I surely will.

Heaps of love to each one of you, Dear People.

Yours as always,
Eric.
