11-7-16.

Dear Mr Platt,

I am handing your letter addressed to Pte Lambert to Company Sergeant Major Harvey who is the only one of the party who rescued Errol, who remains. Pte. Lambert was killed in the assault on Mount Sorrel on June 13, and Sergt. Nottingham was seriously injured at the same time. There are very few men who knew Errol now remaining, most of them having made the supreme sacrifice in the "glorious victory" the human side of which the general public and newspapers have no concern with and pay no attention to.

The fruits of Errol's work were very apparent in the recent operations and did much to contribute to their success.

Yours truly,
Wm. D. Allan.
