Dear Mr Cochrane

You will have heard of your sad loss long before you get this letter.  Your son Pte Cochrane 910128 was brought here dangerously wounded in the head and though everything possible was done for him he passed away on April 14th.

He did not leave any messages indeed he was unconscious most of the time most of the he was here.

You will be glad to know he did not suffer much pain and that he was in bed in a warm room with all that was necessary for his comfort.  He is buried here in the cemetery and his grave will be marked with a cross and nicely kept.  I may not give you the name of the place, but the war office will if you wish for it.

His belongings will be sent out to you later through the authorities.

With Sympathy in your grief

Believe me

Yours faithfully

A.M. Raine

Sister-in-charge
