Dear Winnie

I received your parcel a few days ago, the chocolates looked like old times. The battalion furnishes us with more cigarettes than we can smoke. We get an issue once a week. I wrote you a few weeks ago. I received a letter from home a day or two ago & answered it the same day. I get the papers regular.

Perhaps you remember seeing at English's store a big Scotchman, by the name of MacNeill, well he is working as an orderly around the office since coming over here.

I was walking down a side lane the other day & who should I see that my old friend Emslie. He is mail orderly with a Field Ambulance. Pringle's brother is with the same ambulance but I haven't seen him yet.

How are you all getting on. Did I ask you if you fixed up my insurance policy, in my last letter. Everything is going fine. I got a complete new outfit of clothing the other day.

Jack
