LETTERS FROM MEN AT THE FRONT.
GUNNER BOND WRITES OF MANY COBOURG BOYS.

Mr. Jos. Flannigan has received following letter, which will be of particular Interest to the friends of the Cobourg boys mentioned, from Gunner S. Bond.It is dated January 27, 1918:

Dear Friend Joe:
Just a few lines hoping this will find you all well as it leaves me well. I often think of you all and have been going to write for some time. Well, I have met lots of Cobourg boys out here. The old town has sure done her bit and the boys, too. I met one of the MARTIN boys yesterday and had a talk. I told him that I would write you. I see ANGUS HUTTON nearly every day and COULTER LAVIS, ARTHUR HOPPER, Mr. SPRAGGE, JACK PAYNE, Jack Fox's boy, VINCENT BUTLER, GEO. PLUNKETT, and the DENTON BOYS, HERB WICKS, and I saw CHARLIE PRINGLE and GEO. CARLEY and CLIFFORD HARCOURT some time ago, and also DR. ELIOTT. Well, this is sure some war, but I have been lucky so far, and I hope that we will get back safe. It will soon be three years since I signed up, but I am not downhearted yet and I hope the war will finish this year. Well we are on the win all the time. One thing about the Canadians is that when they go after anything they get it and hold it. But it has cost a lot of lives, a fellow would wonder how so many get through it. It is hot stuff sometimes. Well remember me to all the folks and Lilly and Tom and Billie Boundy, Harry Croft, Tom Johns, A.R. Dundas, Billie Dundas, Jack Quinn and all the boys, Address care of A.P .M., 4 Canadian Division, T .C. No. 443884, France. Well drop a line Joe, and give us the news. A letter looks good out here. With best wishes to all you folks and yourself and wife and family.

Your friend as ever,
S.A. BOND.
