SHORT NOTE FROM MAJOR (REV.) WM. BEATTIE.
Salisbury, November 19
(ENGLAND).

Major Beattie sent The World a card this week with a picture of some of the 40th boys on it, He says:-

These are some of Cobourg 40th boys, all are well and doing well, I am proud of the 40th officers and men. They have certainly tried to keep up the good name of the town and Regiment. The weather seems more settled - cold and clear to-day, like a Canadian November day. We are all living on the tip-toe of expectancy. Rumours of all kinds keep coming as to our destination. You will know them soon if they come to anything,'
Yours truly,
MAJOR W. BEATTY.
