Dr. DONALD ARMOUR EXPRESSES SINCERE GRATITUDE (FROM ENGLAND)

During the summer and fall of 1915 the Women's Institute of Cold Springs in an effort to raise money for Red Cross work made and sold an autograph quilt by which was made somewhere about one hundred and twenty-five dollars altogether, The quilt was sold to Mr. Jas. Thompson, Cold Springs who returned it to one of the hospitals where our Canadian wounded soldiers might be. They decided to send it to Dr. Donald Armour, Surgeon-in-chief of 'The Queen's Canadian Military Hospital at Shorncliffe.' (England) and the following letter is a copy of one received by Miss Jessie Davidson, Secretary of the Institute, thanking them for their gift:

19th January, 1916
89 Harley Street West.

My Dear Miss Davidson:
It is difficult for me to find words to express my deep appreciation for the beautiful bed spread which the Women's Institute of Cold Springs has so generously sent to the hospital. It has been received in good order and is now in use. Will you convey to your associates my warmest thanks for this practical expression of their sympathy and interest in our work among the wounded. It is very gratifying to me personally, coming as it does from those who live so close to my old home and who I hope will still remember me. Cold Springs brings back to me many happy memories of my boyhood recollections that neither time nor distance can dim. It is a source of great pride to me to feel that the Women's Institute of Cold Springs has been associated with me at my hospital work.
Gratefully yours,
DONALD ARMOUR.
