My Dear Ones at Home,-

We are enjoying a day at a 'rest billet' in a city of France, after a night in a box car en route for 'up the line'.

Forty of us were packed in a small box car, but Argyle & I slept quite comfortably [?illegible character] in a corner. We are in a large French city, but are kept in an enclosure, so of course cannot see much of it. We are glad of the day off tho' and had a good dinner at the Y.M.C.A. hut. Hot tea, bread & butter & cakes. God bless the Y. We couldn't live with out it. They are everywhere in this country.

You should see us in our sheep-skin coats, steel helmets & great water-proof boots. You wouldn't know us. All appearances have been sacrificed to warmth and comfort, & we are well clothed

Will write again when we reach our destination

Lovingly

Markle
