Dear Mr Irwin,-

Received yours of 22/1/17 and was glad to hear from you again, for yours are always very interesting.

The news that the K.O.H. class has again started and going smoothly is great news and have no reason to think that you will not do great good. As for you being teacher, that is just what I wanted some time ago but did not like to ask the favour, for I knew that you had your hands full at other work which required much time.  How many slackers have you in it?

Am very glad that our temperature never reached anything like what you spoke of. We had a fairly cool spell but was able to do my guard without being very uncomfortable.

The boys at Killarney were surely having some time, causing a trifle more excitement than we get at times.

We have had a very good holiday but are again in the line handling iron rations and believe me Hynie is getting his full share on this front, I presume you saw the account of our splendid achievements of 17/1/17. Our batt is now the proudest on the front.

Am real well and enjoying every moment of my time

Yours Sincerely

Art.
