Dear Sister -

I suppose that you will think I am getting awfully good about writing but to tell the truth I have plenty of time to write where I am at present and I thought that if I wrote enough letters that I might possibly get one in reply which I am looking forward to every day but as yet I have received no letter since I wrote you last.

Well I am in a convalescent camp still and it is real nice here that is it is so much nicer here than the other parts of France that I have been its like paradise here as compared with up the line. The camp is right close to the sea shore and they have entertainments of different sorts as well as moving pictures so a fellow has something to take up his time and the food here is very good of course its not like at home but there is plenty of it which is the main thing a fellow looks at out here.

We have been having rather nasty weather for the last three or for days but hope to see it change and warm up before long. I suppose that the weather is getting pretty nice at home I should sure like to get home this summer and if the advance keeps going on as it is at present it does not look impossible but I will be very satisfied to get home for Christmas.

I suppose that you have seen by the papers about the success of the Canadian troops in the last few days there was severe fighting according to reports.

Well the States have finally come to the conclusion to fight something I think they should have done quite awhile ago I think but I am glad they are in it now. I wish you would send me some papers. I wrote a long time ago asking mother & yourself to send me some things well I have received nothing since the box mother sent me for Christmas so if you have sent me anything let me know when you write I hope mother & Louise are both well, this letter is for all of you, so I will close hoping you & Walter are in the best of health. I will close with lots of love

From your Loving Brother John

I could do with a little odd change ($)
