Dear Mae,

You will be wondering why you have not heard from me for so long.  Well to tell you the fact I have not had a decent chance to write you in about three weeks so now that we are back in billets for a few days I am making good use of the time and catching up with some of my correspondence.  Well I had a letter from your Dad yesterday and he sent me the address of that boy whom you knew and who is in the First Battalion.  I shall be sending him a short note one of these days and may possibly make arrangements to meet him.  I hope so anyway.  He is not so very far away from us.  If you should be writing to him soon you might tell him to look out for me.  So far there is not more leave being given and none in sight worse luck.  I had a letter from Lil the other day.  She did not write as if she were very cheery so I wrote here a breezy letter and hope that it would cheer her up a bit.  We are still holding our old time luck and doing well.  I might say that we have got a draft of men from Kamloops Battalion so probably you will know which lot that was.  If not just put the numeral (1) in front of ours and you shall have it.  We are all in the best of spirits over her and hoping to be back in Vancouver before long.  I have a good deal more to write but I will have to stop as the registered mail is due to go.  Wishing you heaps of luck and all good times from

Your affectionate cousin
J. Scott Pattullo
