Dear Ollie:

Just a line to let you know I am getting along fine.  Feel a lot better but have not done any work yet but expect to begin this week.  Got your letters last week but they were pretty old.  Written the last of May and 10th of June but still they were better than none.  Well Allie am afraid old Moors prophecy won’t come true this Oct. but we will hope for the best.  Sorry to hear it was such a cold spring but reckon it’s warm enough there by this time.  Was sure glad to hear Bob White got home safe.  Was afraid he would never see old NS again.  Hope he gives some of them so called men around there H_ _ _! And I reckon he will.  Well I just finished a letter to Mum.  It sure takes the nerve out of me to write her now for I don’t know what to say.  It’s funny it had to be him instead of my worthless carcass that got in the way of that shell.  But it always seems to be the best that has to go.  Well it’s getting dark and I have no more paper here so I better quit.

With love
Jack
