Dear Mr. Irwin
I guess you have been thinking I have forgotten you, not writing for so long, but have had rather a high old time here with my leg & I have not felt like writing to anybody, still I feel a lot better & the wounds are healing fine now. At first thought I would lose my right leg, but they have fixed it up pretty good.
Two of the pieces made lovely holes right through the thigh, one about the size of a 25/’ piece & the other bigger, fairly let the daylight into me.
Have not had a line from Norwood for month now, so I hope to soon.
Trust you are all well over there, wish I could pop in & see you all, maybe I shall as the doctor thinks I am one of the old crocks now, still I will have a pretty good try to be in at the finish which I myself think is not far off now, so will have my Xmas dinner in old Norwood next time.
Give my kind regards to all the folks from yours sincerely
Segt. Walter T. Robus.
