Dear Mr Irwin,
Received your welcome letter this week & am replying as soon as possible.
Glad to learn everything is going on alright & that you are quite well.
As to myself going on good, we have been in the trenches for a while & have just come out for a day or so rest, we had good luck there & our losses were small, I am glad to say.
I got in a few shots with the boys & the germans returned the compliments.
We are getting treated very well & get lots of wholesome food & a good share of clothes. in fact I myself think that under the circumstances things are excellent, of course now & then things are a little rough, but we cannot expect anything else on this job.
The weather is not very good, but it is improving.
Must close with best wishes to all & will write again soon.
Yours sincerely
Walter T. Robus
PS. When writing to me just put a two cent stamp on please, for it comes alright, received your last two letters in France.
