Monday, Feb 22nd

This morning we got up at 6 o'clock and had a good breakfast at 7 o'clock. At 9:30 o'clock we went on parade and were presented with tobacco and pipes. After that we did physical drill for an hour and dinner at 11:30. After eating an excellent dinner we rested until 2 o'clock and then we paraded for boat drill. Our lifeboat is number six, but it is right on the top boat deck about a mile away from our cabin. I don't think if anything does happen that I will bother about getting into my boat. I shall just make a dive for the one nearest but we should worry about getting sunk. The weather here today was beautiful, not too cold. We are laying here now with steam up. I expect we will be moving tomorrow. I am just going to write you a short letter. Of course there will not be much news in it as I am putting it all in this diary. I think this is all for the present. Good-bye for the present.
