Dear Ladies

Thanks ever so much for the very nice box which I received in good order yesterday.

I can assure you it was very acceptable and my chums and I enjoyed the contents very much. They all wish me send you their note of thanks and we Wish You all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.

I have passed many a lonely hour but not near so many as I would have had my sister not sent me some of the pamphlets to read. There is always such a great depth to them. They carry one away and you forget you are in the army.

We all feel sure the war will finish in the Spring by a crushing defeat to the Germans.

Hoping you are all in the Best of health and Thanking you again for the trouble you have gone to with the parcel.
