GUNNER W.P. LAJOIE IMPROVING

Gunner W.P. Lajoie, who was reported gassed a few weeks ago, writes his mother, Mrs. N. Lajoie, Parry Sound, as follows:

France, July 11th, 1917

My Dear Father and Mother:
Just a few lines to let you know that I am getting along fine. I was shell gassed. Do not worry about me. The only thing that worries me is this, they cut my hair off baldie and I look like a Hun.

France, July 14, 1917

I am getting along fine. I have been up for three days now, and I am leaving to-morrow for convalescent camp. I will be there a couple of weeks I expect. You need not worry about me for I will be fine now. I have not had any mail from you for some time. Very likely it is chasing me around France. You can continue sending my mail to my Battery address for I hope to be there soon again. It is a lovely place here down around the beach, the lovely sea breezes are fine, I will conclude with best of love.
