Dear Edie
Thanks for the cigs which you sent. I am sending you a P.C. which you asked for. I am getting on alright it is rather cold out here and we have had some snow. At present our battalion are resting at a farm behind the lines. We are having a little concert on Tuesday in the big barn here. I got a bit box of Woodbines from Uncle Sam yesterday. If you see Aunt Ada ask her why young Bert doesnt write to me will you. I hope you are getting on alright at your work. I will close now.
Goodbye
Your loving brother Jack
