My Dear Sister -

Well I have had my leave, and had a great time. My wife and I visited the English Lakes district, and it was great. About like the St. Lawrence out from Brockville.

I came here on the 2nd of this month, just five months from the day I got hit, and oh such a place. I hope soon to get out of here. I am still marked B III, but do not know what they intend doing with me. I have about given up hopes of getting back to Canada this fall, although my hand is no better. I was marked fit for base duties, but do not know how things will turn out. I will let you know all about it later. It seems ages since last I heard from you. Do write soon, as I am in a fit of the blues at present. I am thirty three miles from Epsom, where my wife lives, but intend to cycle over there a week from Saturday. Yesterday morning I was supposed to have the scabies "a skin disease from France" so I was put in a quarantine hut, just think of it two huts and a washhouse enclosed in barbed wire entanglements. Well I got pretty tired of staying over there this evening so when the sentry's back was turned I took a race for the gap, and came here to the Y.M.C.A. to write some letters, and get some grub a little change from army rations. I hope you will not think me too bad, but I'll manage to sneak back in some way tonight. Just imagine we only have three blankets and a great coat spread out on boards over in our coop for a bed. Nearly as bad as France. Thank goodness our quarantine only lasts four days.

My wife sends her love to you all at home, and if you would like to write her a letter of welcome I will enclose her address. Mrs J.M. Brown 2 Birch Villas Langley Vale Epsom Downs Surrey England. She is having a picture taken by herself and I will send you one when I get them. She is a dear girl, and I know when you meet her you will adore her as I do. My address at present is pte J.M. Brown 2nd C.C.D. 9. Company. Bramshott Hants Eng. Well Olga I must ring off for now, and go back to my home amongst the barbed wire. Some night I'll be going outside, and think I'm in France again, and start ducking with all that wire and sentries with cold steel on their muskets and the like. Oh well Au revoir for now.

Your Loving Brother
Don.
Give my love & regards to all at home
