My dear George
On Christmas Eve your letter dated Dec. 7th & the registered parcel containing the German Infantry Cap arrived quite safely. I expect it is the one you said you were going to scrub & boil. If so you have cleaned it very nicely & I think it looks quite a decent cap. Now for yesterday's programme: Down to church for 8 o'clock service. Mabel was there with us & in the seat before us were Mrs. Cannon, Else & Tom. We hadn't a chance to speak. Came home, had breakfast, then finished undoing our parcels. Father Christmas certainly was good to us. From Alex to Edie a large Cedar Chest; Mr. & Mrs. Campbell a beautiful quilt; Margaret a pro of Hemstitched Sheets; Lil a lovely pink kimono & boudoir cap; Nellie something to wear; Eva cup & saucer; Zeta Boudoir cap; Miss Goffin photo; Mr. Slater gloves; Mr. ?? a large box of chocolates; Dorothy a vase; & Mildred sent her photo & on the greeting card is written "Mrs. Adams & Edie - Mildred H." It is a lovely picture. I want it all. May sent me a pretty Calendar from Detroit & we have Xmas Cards galore. Mr. & Mrs. W. L.Bell, 203 Lauder Ave. have sent me one again this year. I feel quite ashamed to think I've not been up to see them.

Think I will wait & go with you. We think the Batt.(alion) Christmas Card quite nice. Tuesday morn Eva came over to tell me she had just received a few lines from Dan. He said he was very ill & couldn't write any better. We were all so relieved to think he was able to do that much. Zeta has gone home for the holidays.

Now dearest - I hope you did as well as we. Hoping to soon see your dear face.

With fondest love & many kisses
Your loving mother
