My dear George
Yours of Nov. 30th came today & a funny thing when I wrote you yesterday I told you of the two surprises & that I was expecting a third. Well sure enough it came this morning with your letter. I daresay you remember my girl friend, Hettie. She sent me a most lovely mauve silk scarf for Christmas. It will do to wear with the Violet Enameled Brooch Alex sent me from Aberdeen. I am very glad to tell you that Eva received a letter from Louie this morning in which she says she went to see Dan but was not allowed to, as he is shell shocked so as soon as she can she will have him to Westcliffe. Edie & Mrs. Campbell had letters from Alex too this morning. He is well & so is Gordon. Margaret was in a few minutes ago. She says they got your Christmas Card & was very pleased with it. We haven't seen anything of Florrie or Percy but May said he was badly disfigured. I shall not have time to go before Xmas but will go as soon after as I can to see Florrie. It takes so long to get to Kew Beach. Am enclosing last week's Tely. They are the only ones I've missed sending since it started. If you go to Purfleet [camp in Essex, Eng.] I do hope you get your boxes all right but no doubt you will.
Well wherever you are I wish you a Merry One & a pleasant & speedy voyage home in the New Year.

With fondest love & many kisses
Your loving mother
Emily Watson
