Diary

April 11 - Had a good night's sleep, all of us. Had my blanket stolen so had to make the best of my overcoat. We here lose a day. Teams not returned from taking the 65th French Battalion across Jack Fish Bay. Weather very stormy, snowing and blowing all day. Col. George T. Denison's Cavalry Corps arrived in camp towards evening. All day had a deal of waiting and scrambling over getting meals, the cooks at each meal being able to seat only about 60 at the tables at a time. I slept in a big store shed that night. Smells and smells. Got word that teams had just got back, 9 p.m., ready to take us on in the morning.
