My Dear Mother,
Just a line to say goodbye. We are off tomorrow, parading for embarkation at 8.45, & sailing sometime in the afternoon. Since writing last, I received yours of the 11th, enclosing a Xmas card from Gosforth. I managed to write a short letter to Jenny yesterday, the first for a long time.
Bert is sending you a photo of our squadron. I am sending one to Stan, one to Hannah and one to Jenny. I don't know whether I told you in my last that I had my two stripes, & am senior corporal in the troop I came down with.
I am sending my fur cap by parcel post to Vic & hope it will be useful to him. I am squadron orderly this week & haven't much spare time. It is after nine o'clock now & I want to go down town yet for an hour to get a few things, so must cut this short. Goodbye, love to all & write sometimes & let us have the news.
Yours Affectionately,
Charlie
