GIFTS APPRECIATED BY MEN AT FRONT

The following letter addressed by a Canadian N.C.O. now serving with the 24th Battalion in France to Mrs. Thos. Cunningham, of the city, shows how much the presents sent by the Bastion Chapter Daughters of the Empire, are appreciated by the men at the front.

"Received a pair of socks the other day, with your card enclosed, and thought it my duty to write you and tell you how much we appreciated the good work done by the ladies of the British Empire in knitting and otherwise making warm clothing for us, who are trying to do our best in this foreign country. Again thanking you for the socks and wishing you and yours the Compliments of the season, I remain yours truly, E.G. Lidstone, 24th Battalion, Canadians."
