Dear Dad:

I wrote you on the 29th and Fern and Grannie on the 30th. I expect some more mail from Canada soon as it is some time since there has been a Canadian mail.

I have not been able as yet to get the leave I mentioned but I am promised it as soon as finish five hours on Sopwith Pups. So far I have done about four hours. I wanted to finish up to-day but cannot as the weather is dud.

I wrote Max last week telling him that I was trying for leave and last night I rec'd a telegram from him saying to meet him on Saturday. I will endeavor to do so but it depends on whether I finish that five hours or not.

After Pups I expect to go to either Waddington or Turnhouse to fly "camels" although, of course, I will not be sure until I have actually flown them as one usually gets about one days notice before a move. Camels are supposed to be very good. In fact the second best bus the British have. Reg Hoidge was flying S.E's. They are probably the fastest.

We certainly loaf a lot in this place. Read, or play cards or chicken. So far I have not found anyone to beat your pupil.

Think I told you I had been buying war bonds. I have £7 worth of 1919-22 5% Exchequer registered bonds. Dividends payable every 6 mos to me c/o Metcalf. While I was in Nottingham I could not cash a cheque and luckily had my gold so that now I only have £5 of it left. Am putting in a claim for expenses & will probably get some back.
