My dear Fern:

Just a line to let you know that I am back in the land where there are no meat coupons. Got to my room at the Grosvenor OK. last night as I wrote Grannie I intended doing but I am starting rather in the middle of things. Yesterday morning I arose early as I saw I was to be awfully busy. I had promised to go to Sidcup with Metcalf in the afternoon and I was also trying to squeeze in a date with Fairclough. I went up to my barber at the Regent Palace and got all fixed up preparatory to another three in a barberless land

When I returned I found a message from Metcalf for me and immediately rushed down there. I had not intended going with him but he had made all preparations for me and expected me to go so I went with him at 12 P.M and left a phone message for Fairy. Had lunch with Mr. Metcalf and it was some meal too believe me. We drank three bottles of "cider" between us and had three kinds of dessert. Then we inspected Sidcup and the intrepid aviator was introduced everywhere. Then we went back and had our pictures taken umpteen times and then had tea - all kinds of it and as usual I sampled everything there was going. I had to buzz off about 5.30 as I had promised to meet Fairy at 7.00. I took a bus home and reached the club at 7.01 pip emma. and met Fair We had dinner at a Lyons and then went off to see some friends of his who lived in Cadogon Gardens. When we got there there were three older fellows and about a dozen of the other kind - the usual odds. We talked & had some grub and then decamped to the billiard room. They were all awfully nice people and I have two weeks of my next leave all booked so you see I am getting along in society. We finally got away and I reached the Grosvenor some time this morning and later on caught the 7.50 train

Well! That was a pretty long paragraph and I had to hold my breath all the time or I'd have never got it all off my chest.

I am staying here to-night and getting an early morning train. I don't believe there are anything but early morning trains in this country.

Tell Grannie that I think I forgot to enclose the small snap of myself in the last letter I wrote her but will get it to her yet.

Take good care of Dad although I know you don't have to be told and take care of yourself also.

Love to all

Gord
