Dear Fern:

Your letters in this morning. 66 & 67 from you & one from Grannie. Haven't got much news for you as usual. Had a letter from Max yesterday. He is back in England again If he stays there for a couple of weeks more I will be able to see him.

Am glad to hear you are getting the car ready again so that you can take the boss out occasionally. It will do him good.

I had a fine time yesterday morning. We had just got in a scrap when my guns started to run away. I was going all around the sky shooting everything in sight until my ammunition ran out and then the guns were obliging enough to stop. Then my engine started to overheat and I headed for an aerodrome and was very doubtful whether I would get there before the engine seized. However I did so and found several fellows I knew there. Filled up with water & started off again steering by a dud compass. - Engine soon started to boil again & I had to look out for another 'drome. Landed there & filled up with water again. My radiator was leaking very badly and the water soon all ran out which of course explained the overheating. I saw Sharpe there the first time for months. Started off again and at last managed to get home again.

Am glad you made a success of the first aid staff but can the V.A.D. talk. You stay where you are.

Fairclough has been given a Flight promoted Capt & posted to 23 Sq. so I lose a bed mate.

Take care of yourself & love to all

Gord
