Scampton,
Aug 16, 1917.

Dear Fern:

Received your letter, number two, just before I left London day before yesterday, Aug. 14th, also one from Dad and one from Emmer. I wrote a long letter to Dad yesterday which you must see as I can't write it all over again.

Am getting my bed to-night so will be fixed up better than before. This appears to be a pretty slow place. Not much flying and at my present rate of progress it looks as if I would be here for quite a little while. Haven't heard from Max since he went to his flying school so don't know how he is getting along. Tell him to be careful, not to be in a hurry to do any stunts and to get up good and high before he tries anything funny.

I suppose you will have left the Beach by the time you get this so I will address it to Toronto. Don't do too much and don't work too hard and don't let Dad work too hard either. Don't know of anything in particular that I want - No more socks for a while at least. You can send me a few eats if you want to but just some home made stuff as I can buy anything I want in town. I had some of the cake that you sent to Max. I mean the one in the tin. It was very good & very fresh.

Have to go into lunch now but will write again soon. I think I [crossed out: will number my letters differently no I won't either.]

With love,

Gord
