My dear Sister.

I hope you'll pardon me for my long delay in writing you. I received your letter of the 11th [?] some few days ago. I feel sorry for poor D.C. I do hope he has turned up since. I'm sorry for Neil Macdonald I think he's in a worse fix than the fellows at the front.

I haven't heard from Alick since he left England, altho- I've wrote him several times mostly field P.C.s. I dont know whether he received any of them or not, anyway I'll write him a letter this time out. We pulled out of the front line last night and are as usual in billets for a few days. All the Uist boys are safe as far as I know, I hav'nt seen any of them yet except Mc Pherson from Paible who is in the gun section with me. D.J. will soon be making tracks for Glasgow I expect I know his leave will soon be granted now.

How is old Roderick getting along in Grimsay, you can tell him I was asking for him, I suppose he'll have a few of his grandson's fighting out here.

Well Marie as I hav'nt any news of any interest I might as well come to a close hoping to here from you soon.

With my best regards to each and all. Will write the old man tomorrow.

Yours affect Brother
Ewen.
