My dear Sister

I wrote you some time ago from Clavet I had to leave there for want of work, of course I would get lots of work on farms attending to the cattle, but there would be not much money in it. I came out here a week ago theres lots of work here cutting down trees and making roads in the woods.

I tell you its quite a rough life among all kinds of men and over 60 miles from the nearest town however I am getting along pretty good theres all kinds of wilds beasts in the woods here its not safe for a fellow to be out in the night.

I was in a meeting yesterday afternoon a preacher from town came in to our camp and he preached in one of the barracks & when I went in I saw him in the middle of the room preaching a well as he cold and in a corner at the door there was a fellow playing a mouth organ in another a couple shaving a crowd sing some dirty songs in their own language in the far tent two or three grinding their axes for money they did at all in spite of the preacher, at last he had to stop and went away saying that he would not preacher the word of God not longer, I was sorry for the poor fellow, but let me till you the people in this country don't care much for the world. of God.
