My dear Sister

I received both your letters last week also Father's glad to learn that you are all well and enjoying yourselves. I am dangling along in the same old style. You were asking me in your last letter what was my work like. The first job I got was working in a store but I was only a week there when I took the Measels and before I was able to work again another fellow had took my place.

My pay was onely £2. A week and I had to pay 28/ of that for my board. I am boarding at the Hotel here since I came I could not get lodging enywher else the charge of the Hotel and the other house are very near the same. I am at present working the Hotel here, as driver It isent a very good job but I could not get any other at the time.

I have to be up every morning at 6 a.m. get my horses ready two nice white ones and a double carrag at 8 a.m. to see is there any Passengres for the Hotel but the worst of it is that I have again to meet the Night Train at 10 P.M. and some times have to drive seven or eight miles after 10 P.M. some days I have very few drives to do and others I will be going from dawn till dark so you see that I am some times as late in getting to bed here as at home, the nights the squads would be on an night attack.

My pay is £4 a month with free board and lodging, they give very good board here, three times a day 7.30.am/2.n. 6.PM I was missing very much the cup of tea I used to take at bedtime at home D.A. is just beside me I see him every moment but Archie and the rest they live in Dundurn. It is twenty miles from here I and D.A. was onely once down yet but we intend to go down next Sunday. The Sky macleans live near Dundurn I did not see any of them yet their father and brother sailed on the same day as I, but on the Donaldson Liner we were across five days before them.

About D.A.'s Mother she can't go across alone she has faded very much since she came out here. Peggie told us that they were going to start in July but I don't know I will tell you in my next letter are they going or not. Archie is getting on very good he has been on the Rail road ever since he came, he is now senior fore man with very good pay and free house he rents his own house.

Donald is in the Asialm that's what is wrong with him but I think they would like to keep it private over there. This place looks beautiful Just now large fine field of golden wheat. about the night we were in Carinish I was there all right, but is I was drunk it was a bottle of lemonade that made it, of course I was [?] like the rest and perhaps louder. The next day I could not get Peter out of bed so I was knocking about the moor with th gun and came to Campbell's early in the after noon and you know the rest.

There is plenty of dancing going on here just now but the kind of dance they do here I don't know it so I stay off as. I see my slept hours small enough. I don't know yet will I stay here or not for autum

Now my dear sister I will come to a stop. Hoping to hear from you soon with all the
Grimsay news I wonder how did Sandy get along in Glasgow was he nearly murdered as usual

Yours loving Brother
Ewen Nicholson
