Dear Mother

Just a few lines to say that I received your letters and I'm writing the first chance, while I have it. I was glad to hear how things are at home, as always. Crops seem to be very fair. You will be getting it rather cold, I expect now, in Canada. We are certainly getting all kinds of rain and cold just lately. But I guess it's got to come ,..like the rations. I was very lucky today. I got six letters and a parcel from Aunt Jessie. I have hardly time to do any writing these days. I got one from Aunt Emily, so tell her I'll write the next time. Well Mother dear, this is hardly a letter, but you'll know that I'm getting along extra fine as usual and I hope this finds you all the same, so love to all from your affectionate Son,

P.S. Letter to follow.
