Dear Lola,

Just a few lines to let you know I am still well and I hope you are all the same. We have been having some pretty cold weather here for the last two weeks and we have about four or five inches of snow on the ground so you see we are having a Canadian winter over here. How is Mrs. and Mr. Passmore and Jennie. We are out of the trenches just now having our much needed rest and training for the next offensive. Have you heard from Fred lately and is he still keeping well. I saw Will Booker the other day and he told me that Alex had got sent back to the Base under age so I guess he will be finished with the trenches for the remainder of the war. Well good luck to him and anybody else that can get away from it. Remember me to Fred when you write and is he still in the cavalry. Well Lola there is no news to tell out here and if we said all we'd like to the censor would strike it out so under the circumstances I hope you'll excuse this short letter.

I haven't received any letter from you for a long time so I'll have to write and tell your mother or father to get after you. Well I must close now hoping to hear from you soon.

Yours as B.4
