Dear Mother:-
Just a few lines to let you know I am well hoping you are all the same well we are having a good time here now lovely weather too.
We had a route march Friday evening we went out at six o'clock and walked about nine mile and got back to barracks at half past nine had a light lunch and then went to bed, that's one thing we get more to eat over here than we got in Canada where there is lots to eat we get four meals a day now so that's not bad. This is certainly a great country here lovely shade trees and beautiful buildings but they are very old fashioned but its beautiful work and looks nice.
I saw a field of barley all out in head the other day so that's quite ahead of the Island and another thing they have great roads just like streets.
I saw Vince Duffy the first evening I was up here he came and called at the hut for me. I got quite a surprise he hasn't grown any but he is just as fat as ever but not so soggy as when he was home they certainly smarten one up over here they can take the hump of one's back and move it around on his chest. I suppose they are still gathering up the boy there isn't any more gone from around there. How Perc getting along tell him Vince is laughing about when they used to steal the horse on Willie and go for a drive. I think I will drop Sammy Howe a few lines today so he can't say the young fellow never wrote.
Well I will close for this time hoping you are all well.
Good Bye
Allan.
