Dear Mother

I hope you are all well, you will see by my address that we have left Medicine Hat & we are leaving here on Tuesday for England.

There are 5000 men camped here just now. 6 Battalions of infantry & 1st 2nd & 3rd CMRR.

We have just been here four days, all we have done so far is shooting, everyone is shooting pretty good too. This part of the country is very like England, lots of trees but no fences at all.

We are to leave Montreal on the 12th, so we should be in England about the 21st, they rest of the Brigade is here the 1st & 2nd CMR's.

We had a great send off at Medicine Hat when we left the people were very sorry to see us go, there was never a complaint made about any of the solders all the while we were there. Lewall is very dirty especially when the wind is blowing it is so windy.

Our horses and 70 men left Medicine Hat the day before we did for where we do know, they went on through Lewll as I suppose they were going on to Montreal to wait there for us. I did very well at the shooting so far, did you ever get the photo I sent you of the 2nd Troop. I sent some up to Maggie as well.

I have no news at all give my love to Emmie & all

I remain

Your loving Son

Tommy
