Dear Mother

How are you today. I hope the weather on PEI is not like it has been here for the past two days. I have a very nice place to write this letter. I am sitting in front of the Dug-out on a sand bag. Mud all around I have nearly a homestead on my feet

Everything is quiet this morning. Rumor of good news all along the front are steadily coming in. But trench rumors as a rule are never very reliable although I think some faith can be put in them this time. I have had a very good time this week as Company orderly - and as such get out of all fatigue duties.

We are kept pretty busy now but there is a good reason a Fritz will find out. I got a bunch of papers (Guardian) the other day and I dont want any more of my letters put in the paper either. The weather here is warm enough yet but the wet season I suppose will be on soon. You might send me a pair of heavy mitts with one finger separate if you have nothing much to do. I expect we will need them this winter unless Fritz is beaten before that. Well as usual there is not much to write so I will close for this time.

Goodbye
Charlie
