Dear Mother

I received your letter of April 20th yesterday. I way very glad to get it as it is the first I have received for over a month.

Did you get mine of April 12th. It was written the day before I was wounded. I also wrote one a few days after I was wounded. Did you get it. We are having great weather here at present it was 73 in the shade yesterday. Except for a shower at night there was been no rain for over a month.

I am getting along fine and expect to be around soon but I guess there will be no more France for me for a couple of months.

As soon as I get out of hospital I will be in a Convalescent Home for a while and after that I will get 3 or 4 weeks leave.

You wanted to know if I was at Vimy. I was and had the time of my life that day. We advanced over two miles. It was a treat. The Fritzes are first class at sticking their hands up.

I got a letter from Blanche yesterday, she is still at the Hospital. She says she write to you once in a while but never gets a reply.

Is there any maple sugar this year. I would like you to send me some if you can get it. In fact any kind of candy will do.

That letter I wrote was a long time going if it took 28 days. We were no farther away but I don't think the boats are running so often.

Well I must close. Write soon.

Goodbye. Charlie.

Here is my address in case you did not get the last letter
