Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I am getting along O.K. I will soon be able to get down town. I am up every day now and it is quite a change after having six weeks in bed.

Well yesterday was my birthday and just the same as the rest of them I have not had any letters form home since I came here except ones that had been sent before I was wounded. I had a letter from Blanche this morning. She is going to New York for a P.G. Course this summer.

The weather was very hot last week but it is better now.

I suppose you heard before this of the Battle at Messines last week.

We were there for 9 months when I went to France first.

Well I must close. Hoping you are all well.

Goodbye

Charlie.

P.S. There is no need of my right number now as I am a Lieutenant.
