My Dearest Betty & Kiddies:-

I am expecting to be leaving Shorncliffe to morrow 22nd for Buxton, did not ought to be longer than two weeks at Buxton form there go to Liverpool for embarkation, so that all being being well expect to be with you somewhere about the 24th May. It has been a long weary time of waiting & filled with anxiety & a thousand hopes & fears. It is very hard getting back with things as they are just now in France, do you know that a boat two days out from Liverpool on its way to Canada was turned back & a lot of the men who were going back were taken off, so you see you cannot be properly sure until you get there.

The weather has been very cold & nasty over here for the last month, but is improving now. I was surprised to run up against George Aylward yesterday in Folkstone he is looking fine & is Sergeant. Will write you from Buxton. Fondest love dear, God bless you all. -
