Dear Father,

Very many thanks for the box received to-day, also all the newspapers. The war news looks very hopeful; dout you think so? I can't say how grateful I am for the "hamper", but don't trouble to send any tea as we always get all we want, so there is no use going to the expense of buying it. I am just saying that to save you trouble, not because I am not grateful. We always get lots to eat, but I must say how very welcome these little treats are for a change. Will you send Doris' letter which I enclose on to her, as this is my last envelope. This makes my sixth letter to-day so I kind of ran short or stationary. I have just written to mother, and thanked her for the tobacco she sent me. Well father I will have to say bye bye for the present, and thanking you again for your very welcome parcel. I am

Your loving son,
George
