Dear Mother:

Have just returned from church parade so I thought it a good chance to write to you. We are at the Divisional school taking a twelve days course and live in a French house upstairs. The French people live downstairs. Three of four nights ago I had a letter from Aunt Elizabeth and one from you. Yours was dated Oct the 20th so it was back mail. Aunt E. says she is sending me a box. I hope it comes to-night as I feel as if I could do with one. Last night I had a bundle of Sunday World from Grace. There is not much to say this time. I will write again before we go into the trenches. Lots of love to all at home.

Your loving son
Jay
