Dear Mother:-

I arrived here this morning for my six days leave and hope to have as good a time as possible on my little pound ten. I was hoping to get a few pounds from you before I came away but hope to have some soon. I drew 2 pounds one pound extra so I won't get anymore until the 15th of next month. About ninety of our company went on pass. We had a hard time to get away as there is a big mobilization of the troops at Dover to-morrow. We got off the train at Canon St. Station and I came down to this Club it is quite a nice place. There are a lot of Australia and New Zealand soldiers here besides Canadians, Russians, and South Africans. I was up town this afternoon around Leister Square and the Strand and Piccadilly and expect to go to the theatre to-night. I suppose the peaches and grapes will soon be ripe. Is Bruce still working at home he will soon be going back to school now. I will write to him soon. This will be all this time. Love to all.

Your Son Jay.
