Dear Mother,

Received your welcome letter of Dec 18th a few days ago but have been too lazy to write. Well I have finished my C.B. (confinement to barracks) and am carrying on the same old way. Have been having rotten weather last week or so. Those photos Syd & I had taken arrived and I am enclosing you one. I have got hold of a decent pen though I started out with a rotten one.

There was a lady came down to see me on Sunday but I happened to be out. Her name was Mrs. Watson. She says ion her letter that she used to stay with you in Spring when you were a little girl.

I remitted $50 the other day and I want you send me some money as soon as you get this letter as we only get 5 shillings per week in convalescence. Send $5 in a letter is best way as I never know when I am going to be moved.

Well dear give my love to all. I had a card and letter from Maud B.
