Letter

Dear Sister Clemmie:

The glad day has come. Long ere you receive this letter you will have heard the news but I am just going to scribble a line. At 9:50 this morning we received the official word that hostilities would cease at 11 am. That hour has come and gone. The guns are quiet. The war is over. As yet we can scarcely realize it. It seems we are in a dream from which we are afraid of awakening. War had become for us so real and yet so commonplace that it scarcely seems possible that it can be over. However I expect it will some time yet before we get back for we will probably form a part of the army of occupation which will go to Germany. I hope we do for I would not want to go back now without seeing Germany.

Well Clemmie that's all I have for now. Will write again in a few days. Excuse scrawl

Love to all, Harold
