March 9th, 1916

Dear Folks:

Just a line tonight. Sent a letter couple of days ago. I suppose this one will go on the same boat. Had our weekly test in the work we have gone over today and I got on fine. It was harder than the last one but I think I got on all right. Want to do some studying tonight so have only time for an hour. Want to scribble Clemmie a few lines too. There have not been any new cases of measles for about a week now and they think perhaps they are stamped out. I have escaped all kinds of sickness since I joined the battery. Have never been sick to date yet. Hope I will be able to keep up that record. Have no news at all tonight. A bunch of the fellows are sitting around the stove reading, two fellows are play-
ing checkers and two more dominoes and four on the far table are having a game of whist. Three of us are writing at this table and the rest of the fellows are up town or at the concert in the YMCA. Things are very quiet. Had a letter from Murdoch last week but there has been no Canadian mail recently. It will surely come tomorrow or Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. It has been quite wintry again for the last few days though it is warmer now and tonight and the snow is all gone again I think I will quit this scrawl now and write again for next week's mail. In case you didn't get Tuesday's letter Mr. Hooper says that if the socks are not already sent to have them sent to Lydd care of Captain
Prowse.

Now will say good night with lots of love from, Harold
