Dear Emma

Yours of the 17th received. I see you have moved. What rent do you pay? Also let me know if you receive separation allowance, the allotted pay and other Patriotic Fund allotment. In reference to the cuts, you mentioned them in your letter to Jack which he forwarded to me.

As to Frank's failure, did he fail in the portions he wrote for as well as that he omitted? If he failed in toto that is bad. I must drop Mac a line. The Posts come fairly regularly, but do not address them to London. For the present send them to the address I will give.

Strange to say I wrote you on the 17th also, so that you will receive my letter about the same time I received yours. Since writing you, our expected move to France has been cancelled and I was sent for duty to Walmer, where I am at present. Life is rather uneventful here. I am in charge at nights, 140 beds, mostly convalescents.

Quite a lot of shipping anchors offshore here, but too distant to be really interesting. A ship caught fire some days ago. I saw that, also 3 ships were blown up, that I only heard about. There has been a lot of rough weather, so they think the casualties were due to mines broken loose farther out in the channel.

Love to all, and kisses.

Dad
